Fractional CTO, Connect Earth

Post-acquisition stabilization of an ESG compliance platform for asset managers on AWS. Performed a technical assessment across code quality, architecture, security, infrastructure, and team maturity. Hands-on work included observability, alerting, deployment process, latency improvements, codebase documentation, and coaching the engineering team on productive AI-tool usage.

Results:

  • Moved the platform from no observability to proactive monitoring with alerting for all core services.
  • Reduced key-person risk and systematized deployment processes.
  • Helped the engineering team move from firefighting to growth mode.
  • Handed over to the Head of Engineering with clearer ownership and operating process.

Built a multi-tenant SaaS platform for multi-asset management, wealth management, accounting, tax, and banking in a regulated environment. Responsible for product architecture, security, CI/CD, DevSecOps, engineering process, and team development.

Highlights:

  • Grew engineering from zero to 10+ people.
  • Built a scalable production SaaS platform.
  • Introduced agile processes and engineering culture for autonomous operation after handover.
  • Rolled out generative AI usage across the product team.
  • Built a conversational AI chatbot with FastAPI/Python backend, Next.js 15 frontend, React 19, TypeScript, Vercel AI SDK, Anthropic Claude, Keycloak authentication, Grafana Faro, and OpenTelemetry.

08/2014 to 01/2019

Started as a working student and became CTO. Built a Google Cloud platform with Python and Flask. Developed ETL pipelines and custom multi-label text classification, then pivoted the product toward machine learning for mood and atmosphere prediction in entertainment data.

Core maintainer of scikit-multilearn, an open-source multi-label classification library for scikit-learn.
